The Department of Design and Multimedia
The Department has expertise in applied research such as explorations of drawing, installation, multimedia, time-based media, photography, typography, graphic communication, computer graphics, computer animation, and digital arts in general. The theoretical research areas include: Graphic communication design analysis, Interactive media project management, Design education and theories of learning, History and theory of typography and graphic communication, Anthropology, Human-computer interaction, Interaction in virtual environments, Interaction using artificial intelligence and machine learning and Empirical studies of web-based (multimedia) learning. Faculty members produce high quality designs, artwork and scientific publications and participate in prestigious local and international exhibitions, conferences and other events; publish in scientific journals and organize international conferences and art exhibitions. They will be providing their expertise on the R&D of ICT tools/exhibits of the Centre.
The School of Sciences and Engineering
The Department of Engineering
The Department of Engineering faculty have backgrounds in various engineering disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Oil & Gas Engineering, and Civil & Environmental Engineering. The research area of the Department include Signal Processing and applications on tracking using various sensing types such as radar, images etc.; design, verification and testing of large scale integration digital circuis and the programming of embedded systems; non-destructive optical techniques for material characterization; Computational Earthquake Engineering / Structural Dynamics; medical image processing; Electromagnetic and antenna technology; Electric power engineering; Geomechanics and Oil and Gas Engineering. Faculty from the Department will be contributing on building the knowledge base in these areas.
The Department of Life and Health Sciences
The Department of Life and Health Sciences offers programmes in the disciplines of Nursing, Human Biology, Sports Science, Nutrition & Dietetics, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy Environmental & Energy Management, Exercise Science & Physical Education, Clinical Dietetics, Sports Nutrition/Dietetics. The Department’s faculty are active in research related to nutrition, molecular biology and biotechnology, neuroscience, immunology and environmental biology and they will be contributing on building the knowledge base in these areas.
